Course Description

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to a casualty in line with first aid guidelines determined by the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) and other Australian national peak clinical bodies.

Upon successful completion participants will be awarded statement of attainment for all accredited units.

  • Defibrillation
  • Managing unconscious, breathing casualties
  • Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
  • Using a defibrillator (AED)
  • Legal issues in first aid

There are no entry requirements. However, participants must have the physical capacity to perform the practical demonstrations e.g. 2 mins of uninterrupted CPR on the floor. Students maybe required to undertake online pre-course work prior to attending the face to face session depending on the delivery mode. Online study students must have access to computer, smartphone, tablet with access to internet to complete the online/pre-course study.
