Course Description

This course teaches the skills and knowledge required to recognise and respond to life-threatening emergencies and provide a first aid response to a casualty in a
range of situations.

HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation

Upon successful completion participants will be awarded statement of attainment for all accredited units.

  • The DRSABCD action plan and responding to emergency situationsManaging unconscious casualties
  • Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
  • Using a defibrillator (AED)
  • Legal issues in first aid
  • Infection control

There are no entry requirements. However, participants must have the physical capacity to perform the practical demonstrations e.g. 2 mins of uninterrupted CPR on the floor. Students maybe required to undertake online pre-course work prior to attending the face to face session depending on the delivery mode. Online study students must have access to computer, smartphone, tablet with access to internet to complete the online/pre-course study.
